Brian is a Lansing native and graduated from Sexton H.S. in 2003. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and a M.A. in Criminology from Indiana State University. Brian studied at Howard University School of Law with a concentration in Criminal Law and Social Justice.
At Howard Law, Brian was a member of the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team where he competed in mock trial competitions nationwide. Brian was also worked in Howard’s Criminal Justice Clinic where he defended indigent people in Washington D.C. against criminal charges under the supervision of an attorney. Brian has held internships with Public Defender Services in D.C. and with the Duval Co. Public Defender’s Office in Jacksonville, FL.
In 2013-2015, Brian worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Eaton Co. As a prosecutor, Brian gained valuable insight and trial experience. In 2015, Brian worked as an Assistant Lansing City Attorney where he prosecuted City Ordinances and defended the City of Lansing against lawsuits in State and Federal Courts. From 2016-2019, Brian owned and operated Jackson Law PLLC, a small firm that primarily handled Criminal Defense matters.
