Kayla Douglass was born in Springfield, Illinois. Mrs. Douglass obtained her high school diploma in 2009 from Rochester High School (Rochester, Illinois) and her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Benedictine University, Summa Cum Laude (Springfield, Illinois) in 2013.
During her time at Benedictine University, Mrs. Douglass completed an externship at the Illinois State Police, where she served as the liaison for out-of-state sex offender record requests. Additionally, Mrs. Douglass served as the President to the Honors Society where she organized and engaged in several community outreach programs including Ronald McDonald House and Midwest Distribution Center.
From 2013, until April, 2016, Mrs. Douglass served the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Sangamon County in her capacity as a Deputy Clerk. Within that role, she attended court proceedings including traffic, misdemeanor, and felony offenses. Additionally, she served as the liaison for attorneys, parties to the proceedings, and the general public.
In the fall of August, 2016, Mrs. Douglass joined the Thirtieth Judicial Circuit Court of Ingham County where she served as a Deputy Clerk to various Circuit Judges. In that position, Mrs. Douglass attended all felony court proceedings and prepared an accurate record of events. Through her years of experience, Mrs. Douglass served as the Unit Trainer for various programs within the Ingham County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
