The status of what has been accomplished so far would include but not limited to the following:
The programming, surveying, and preliminary site due diligence has been completed and the design team has begun looking at design concepts for the new Justice Complex.
In the next couple of weeks, steering committee meetings will be held as the design team works toward a conceptual design and estimated cost which will be presented at the Building Authority meeting in December.
As we move forward we will seek to procure the services of a Construction Management company and a geotechnical consultant.
RFP’s are being prepared so that they can be put out for bid prior to the end of this year. Kramer Management Group has stated that some of the challenges at this stage of the project is fitting the programmed space on the site while trying to mitigate any impact to the operational needs of the existing facility.

Update August 29, 2019 - The Architectural and Engineering contract was approved by the Building Authority and the design team has started programming meetings with the project stakeholders. The information gathered during the programming phase will ultimately become the basis of the conceptual design options presented by the design team.
In conjunction with the programming efforts, consultants will be engaged to provide site analysis including surveying, geotechnical studies and utilities so that this information can be taken into consideration when developing design concepts.
The programming phase is planned to be completed in mid-October 2019. The request for proposal (RFP) for Geotechnical Services and a Construction Manager will go out before November 2019.
June 11. 2019 Update - Although there were many merits to the idea of switching to a more central location for the Ingham County Justice Complex, these discussions ultimately hit too many dead ends, and the jail needs to be replaced as soon as possible. The decision has been made that the location of the Ingham County Justice Complex will be in the county seat, Mason Michigan, at the same location of the current jail, Sheriff’s Office and 55th District Court.
The request for proposal (RFP) for an owner’s representative went out on October 30, 2018. Ingham County has hired the local firm of Kramer Management Group to represent the County for this project.
The RFP for the Architect and Engineering firms (otherwise known as A&Es) went out on April 12, 2019 and was due on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Ten proposals were reviewed and four were chosen to be interviewed on Wednesday May 29, 2019.
Ingham County still has a target date for ground breaking late spring or early summer 2020, with a 24-30 month build time.
